Hearing Testing
During your first visit to an audiologist, you will be asked questions about your medical and hearing history. Then, the audiologist will look into your ears using a special light, called an otoscope, to check for anything in the ear canal that might affect the test results.
You will undergo a hearing test(s) to determine
- Whether there is a hearing loss
- The degree of hearing loss
- Whether one or both ears is affected
- The best treatment options for you
Types of Hearing Testing
- Pure-Tone Testing
- Speech Testing
- Tests of the Middle Ear
- Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR)
- Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs)
- Audiogram
