Cardiology Cartersville Welcomes Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Godly Jack
Harbin Clinic is excited to welcome interventional cardiologist Dr. Godly Jack to Harbin Clinic Cardiology Cartersville. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise and will begin seeing patients on July 22, 2024.
Born in Washington, D.C. to Nigerian parents and raised in the suburbs of Maryland, Dr. Jack was first drawn to health care after a summer program for minorities interested in medicine. Seeing his mentors care for and develop long-term relationships with patients, and then seeing them contribute to strengthening their communities gave him a strong desire for more medical opportunities.
Later, he attended a two-week clinical research experience in Ohio where he walked through a catheterization lab and thought, “This is exactly what I want to do with my life.” He was fascinated by the depth of knowledge cardiology required – the stress tests, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, cardiac MRIs – and he was excited to have so much to learn. He also found the heart especially fascinating.
Describing the medical philosophy he developed throughout the years, Dr. Jack says, “I’m here to serve patients, and I wouldn’t be here without them. My goal is to stay focused on a patient-first mindset. I aim to consider every aspect of my patients as I care for them – their background, their families, etc. I’m not just treating a heart. I’m treating a citizen, a family member, a friend.”
Dr. Jack believes getting to know families provides valuable insight to better understand why patients make certain decisions. He wants patients to see that he has their best interests at heart.
“I want your buy-in as a patient,” says Dr. Jack. “I want to be on your level and work with you as a partner with your health as the priority. The direction of your health care plan should be a team effort.”
Dr. Jack is also passionate about caring for medically underserved populations. One of his most impactful seasons as a physician was serving in a small, under-resourced hospital in Kenya in a women’s ward. He was challenged to make smart and difficult medical decisions without the typical medical technology and tools available in the United States. He was also moved by the compassion he witnessed as sick patients helped care for each other.
“I had never seen such generosity between patients as I did time and again in that women’s ward,” says Dr. Jack.
Outside of the office, Dr. Jack loves to travel and says visiting places like the street markets of Phuket, Thailand, and beyond has expanded his horizons and heavily impacted his outlook on life. During his fellowship in Atlanta, Dr. Jack became familiar with the northwest Georgia area, and he is excited about living in a smaller town and experiencing a slower pace of life.
Dr. Jack will begin seeing patients at Harbin Clinic Cardiology Cartersville on July 22, 2024. To learn more about Dr. Jack and Harbin Clinic Cardiology Cartersville, visit here.
