Dr. Christopher Piller: On-site Physician at the Georgia’s Rome Tennis Open
Harbin Clinic Orthopedics is renowned for its patient care and attention to detail with every patient. From sprained ankles to total joint replacements, the orthopedic physicians and providers at Harbin Clinic are ready to help their patients get back in motion.
If you frequently engage in sports or other forms of physical activity, you know that injuries can happen to anyone. That’s why many sporting events keep an orthopedic physician on standby to treat any injuries that players may obtain.
In February, the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College hosted a United States Tennis Association (USTA) pro-circuit tournament. Dr. Christopher Piller, orthopedic surgeon at Harbin Clinic Orthopedics Rome, served as the on-site physician during the Georgia’s Rome Tennis Open. The tournament included players inside the top 150-200 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings.
One of these players, Tatjana Maria of Germany, went on to win the final at the Rome Tennis Center and recently was a semifinalist at Wimbledon. Tatjana’s ability is especially remarkable given she had a baby just one year ago and is one of only six women to reach the Wimbledon semifinals after the age of 34 since 1968.
Dr. Piller has been the director of medical support coverage for numerous amateur, high school, collegiate, and professional tournaments over the years, including the last three men’s and women’s Atlantic Coastal Conference tennis tournaments. Fortunately, Dr. Piller only had to treat a few minor injuries at those tournaments. Dr. Piller was able to bring along his daughter to the tournament, and after the final match, she had the honor of placing Tatjana’s name on the bracket as champion.
