Harbin Clinic Physiatrist Dr. Lucie Mitchell Takes on 3rd Grade and Raffles Art
In Rome, GA’s rendition of “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” the well-known Jeff Foxworthy game show, adult contestants test their knowledge against local 3rd graders to see how much they have forgotten since grade school.
The Rome Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth (RFCCCY) pits 8 local “celebrity” contestants in a lighthearted live game show against local 3rd-grade students from Rome City Schools, Darlington, Georgia School for the Deaf, Floyd County Schools, Unity Christian School, Montessori School of Rome, Berry College and Elementary School and Saint Mary’s Schools, to test their knowledge of all things 3rd grade. This year, Harbin Clinic’s Dr. Lucie Mitchell will face off with local 3rd graders to raise funds for the RFCCCY event.
The RFCCCY focuses on 3rd grade rather than 5th grade to promote awareness on school success and literacy. By the end of 3rd grade, children are expected to move from learning to read to reading to learn, and yet, in the state of Georgia, 6 out of 10 students do not have the literacy tools that they need to be productive.
Donations supporting the event will go to a series of early childhood literacy initiatives in the local community including a new foster and adoptive families book program, “Books, Barbers and Beauticians,” and books for the local little libraries to name a few.
Dr. Lucie Mitchell, a Harbin Clinic Physiatrist who is also known for her artistic ability, will be raising support for this event by displaying a gallery of artwork open to the public in one of Harbin Clinic’s multi-specialty buildings located at 1825 Martha Berry Blvd as well as raffling off two of her paintings.
A five-dollar donation buys a single raffle ticket, and then each five-dollar increment donated buys another raffle entry (ex: $20 = 4 tickets). To make a donation, text DRMITCHELL to 53-555 or head to the event GIVEBUTTER link here and follow these steps:
