Effective October 1, 2021, all Patient Portal users will now have immediate access to lab and test results as soon as they are available. This change provides improved access and transparency, and is implemented in accordance to the 21st Century Cures Act. The 21st Century Cures Act is designed to ensure patients have timely access to their medical results.

As a Harbin Clinic patient, you will certainly experience the benefits of more timely access to your lab results. Keep in mind that in the past, your healthcare provider reviewed your results before they were released to you through Patient Portal.

If you are ready to look at your lab results in the Patient Portal, here are some things to keep in mind:

• Some results might be confusing or concerning. Often test results require interpretation in the context of the patients’ underlying medical condition(s). Your provider will be able to interpret and explain what they mean.

• Don’t panic. Be aware that not all results marked as “abnormal” are of clinical concern. Wait for your provider to contact you to discuss your results over the phone or at your next appointment.

• We are here for you and with you. While you wait for your provider to contact you to discuss the results, know that we are here for you and your health. We strive to care completely for you.
