Group Beta Strep (GBS)

Group Beta Strep, or Group B Strep, is a bacteria that can be found in the vagina, rectum or urine. It can be passed to the baby during labor.

Patients who are pregnant are checked for this bacteria around 36 weeks. If a patient has it, they will be treated with antibiotics during labor.
