What We Do
Physical therapy is a type of treatment for an injury or health issue that makes it hard to move around and perform common tasks. This type of therapy is often a necessary part of rehabilitation following hospitalization or surgery. It aims to improve or restore one’s physical function and fitness level, and it may help relieve pain and improve mobility.
A physical therapist will examine the patient and develop a treatment plan. Depending on the health problem, the therapist will work on the patient’s flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination, and/or balance.
Physical therapy almost always includes exercise. It can include stretching, core exercises, weight lifting, and walking. The physical therapist may teach the patient an at-home exercise program.
In addition, a physical therapist may use manual therapy, education, and techniques such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation.
