How It Works
Harbin Clinic is committed to creating an environment where mothers interested in breastfeeding their babies have the best support services available in the area. Harbin Lactation Services provide the proper knowledge, education and tools to women interested in breastfeeding options.
PRENATAL CONSULTATION
Before your baby is born is the time to start thinking about breastfeeding your newborn. Harbin Lactation Services offers personal prenatal consultations to help you with your breastfeeding concerns or questions. Our lactation nurses will introduce you to the basic principles of breastfeeding, and can help develop individualized plans to ensure that new mothers and their babies don’t miss out on the opportunity to breastfeed.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR FIRST VISIT?
During your initial consult, the lactation nurse will ask to review the history of your pregnancy, labor, and delivery and your medical history. The lactation nurse will conduct a brief exam of you and your baby and will ask you to breastfeed while the nurse observes. During this process the nurse may help you with positioning and help your baby latch. The lactation nurse will also help you to recognize the signs of a good feeding.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO YOUR FIRST VISIT?
- You will need to bring your baby with you to the visit. The infant should to be ready to feed during your appointment.
- Please bring any breastfeeding equipment that is currently being used or was used in the hospital. You do not need to bring a breast pump.
- Nursing pillows are available; however, you may bring your own if you prefer.
