Harbin Clinic Announces 2016 Race Series
Get ready for plenty of green, tons of water and to dress up as some of your favorite super heroes, as Harbin Clinic and the Rome Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority team together to bring the 2016 Harbin Clinic Race Series to Rome.
The series, sponsored by Harbin Clinic, features three, fun-filled running events all with their own style and flavor.
The Harbin Clinic Race Series kicks off on Saturday, March 19 with the fourth running of the Harbin Clinic Leprechaun-a-thon. Runners will take to the streets of downtown Rome dressed in all sorts of St. Patrick’s Day Costumes and attire, as they tackle the flat, fast five kilometer (3.1 mile) course which finishes on Maddox Track inside Historic Barron Stadium.
This year’s race has an earlier starts time, 11:30 a.m., to allow runners a chance to watch or take part in all of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities on Broad Street.
The second leg of the Harbin Clinic Race Series coincides with the massive Harbin Clinic Patriotic Party in the Park on Monday, July 4 at RidgeFerry Park. Harbin Clinic, RFPRA and Coosa River Basin Initiative are teaming up to give participants a run in the sun while keeping their cool with the inaugural Harbin Clinic Splash Dash 5K.
The race features plenty of wonderful water goodies like super-soaker water guns, water balloons, water hoses and the best finish line of the year, featuring a long water slide to help racers finish in splash-tastic style.
And of course everyone is invited to stay at Ridge Ferry Park after the race for the Harbin Clinic Patriotic Party in the Park, which includes the annual fireworks display.
“Harbin Clinic is excited to play a part in sponsoring these races and to give people in Northwest Georgia a way to improve their health and fitness,” Harbin Clinic CEO Kenna Stock says. “Encouraging the community to get active and stay healthy is a key part of our mission, and these races are a fun way for people of all ages to come out, have fun and get some exercise.”
October sets the stage for the final race of the series with the Harbin Clinic Hero Hustle 5K on Saturday, October 15. The race allows everyone to pay homage to their favorite super heroes and allows racers to show off their super powers on a speedy 5K course.
“Once again, we couldn’t be happier about our partnership with Harbin Clinic and our ability to continue to provide the 5K Race Series that benefits so many people in the Rome and Floyd County area,” Kevin Cowling, director of Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation, says. “These themed races and health walks are a fun way to encourage people to stay fit and strive to live healthy lives, and we’re proud to share that vision and goal with Harbin Clinic.”
