Harbin Clinic is recently welcomed Dr. Billy Chacko to the Vascular Medicine Department. Dr. Chacko previously practiced in the Harbin Clinic Department of Internal Medicine for 13 years before beginning a postdoctoral fellowship in Vascular Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Additionally, Dr. Chacko is a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension, more commonly known as high blood pressure.
With the completion of his Vascular Medicine Fellowship, Dr. Chacko is the only Vascular Medicine Specialist in the State of Georgia. The specialty offers comprehensive care for diseases of the vascular system (blood vessels), and focuses on the non-invasive diagnosis and treatment of all problems involving the circulatory system outside of the heart. These problems may involve arteries, which deliver blood from the heart to the tissues; veins, which deliver blood back to the heart; and the lymphatic system, which transports lymph fluid back to the circulation.
Commonly encountered conditions in the field of Vascular Medicine include varicose veins, leg swelling and ulcers, blockages in the leg arteries that may cause pain with walking, blockages in the neck arteries that may lead to a stroke, blockages in the kidney arteries that may contribute to high blood pressure, and aneurysms that are a bulging of the aorta that could rupture.
“Harbin Clinic has routinely been on the cutting edge of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Interventions for decades, and recognizing the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease is essential in patient care,” said Harbin Clinic President and CEO Dr. Ken Davis. “Dr. Chacko’s return to the Clinic as Georgia’s only Vascular Medicine Specialist is monumental. I have great confidence in the care he will provide to our patients."
Dr. Chacko is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Vascular Medicine.
