Harbin Clinic Year End Wrap Up

It was a big year for Harbin Clinic since the official announcement celebrating the combination of Harbin Clinic and Atrium Health Floyd. We are now one team, but you have seen us showing up in the same ways with the same intentional care all year. From Child Abuse Prevention Month pinwheel gardens and award-winning practices to stories of inspiration and resilience from physicians and patients alike, 2024 has proved to be a joyous and memorable year. As we pause and reflect, here are a few of our favorite memories!

Celebrating Growth – Now One Team

This year, we celebrated as Harbin Clinic and Atrium Health Floyd, the region’s two longest-serving health care providers, finalized a long-anticipated strategic combination, creating an integrated health care system.

In May, we kicked off celebrations by honoring the health care professionals who make a difference every day at our locations. We also enjoyed acknowledging our shared history of care. Now in our ninth decade of working together, we reflect on how our organizations have likely touched every family in our community beginning at life’s first breath. Read some of those stories here.

Award-winning Practices

We also had other reasons to celebrate this year! Many of our physicians and practices were recognized for their excellence.

Caring Completely Locally

Harbin Clinic teammates love stay involved with our community, as evident throughout the year. In March, Harbin Clinic physiatrist Dr. Lucie Mitchell participated in the Rome Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth, “Are You Smarter than a 3rd Grader?” event. She also shared her medically-inspired art with the community as a special fundraiser for the event.

In April, our pediatric offices planted “Pinwheels for Prevention” gardens outside their offices for Child Abuse Prevention Month, representing the positive changes we can make in the lives of children. Our offices also held a diaper drive to collect essential family items for our friends at Advocates for Children, Exchange Club Family Resource Center and Polk Family Connection.

In August, Harbin Clinic general surgeon Dr. Bennett Brock, and his dance partner, Harbin Clinic pediatrics nurse Tara Ogle danced for a cause. They won the Judge’s Choice at the Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge and helped raise more than $170,000 for the Sexual Assault Center of NWGA.

We also loved seeing our teammates invested in the other special community events and awareness opportunities this year such as the YMCA Boofest, Paper Doll Parade and Breast Cancer Awareness, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Wig It Forward, the NAMI walk, the Movember movement and more.

Welcoming New Physicians

This year, Harbin Clinic continued to grow and expand its services, adding three new physicians to different practices! We welcomed:

  • Dr. Patricia Walters, OB-GYN, to Harbin Clinic Women’s Center Rome.
  • Dr. Godly Jack, interventional cardiologist, to Harbin Clinic Cardiology Cartersville.
  • Dr. Nathan Judge, General Surgeon, to Harbin Clinic General Surgery Rome.

Inspiring for the New Year

Finally, we hope our stories inspire optimism and health for the new year. This year, Harbin Clinic Medical Oncology Social Worker Miriam Little shared her story of cohesive comprehensive cancer care, and several Harbin Clinic physicians took on Kilimanjaro, reaching new heights and reflections along the way. From all of us at Harbin Clinic, thank you for making this year a great one! We wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year, and we cannot wait to care completely for you in 2025!
