Harbin Clinic Medical Oncology Nurse Spreads Hope and Confidence to Cancer Patients

Brittany Sublett, a Harbin Clinic Medical Oncology nurse practitioner, knows oncology patient well-being goes beyond medical treatment. This understanding inspired her to launch “Wig It Forward,” an initiative dedicated to providing wigs for those experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment. In its inaugural year, this campaign has already made a significant impact on the lives of oncology patients at the Harbin Clinic Cancer Center.

The “Wig It Forward” campaign was inspired by the emotional toll that hair loss often takes on cancer patients. Determined to make a difference, Sublett reached out to local businesses, hair salons and generous donors for support, and their response was overwhelming. Twelve different local salons and non-profits supported this year’s campaign, donating $5,000 worth of wigs and hairpieces.

In October, Sublett hosted an appreciation day to thank donors. Attendees could view wigs on display, meet the staff and tour the Harbin Clinic Medical Oncology department to understand the impact of their contributions.

Sublett has been encouraged by the support this year, and she is eager to see this movement grow in the future. Each wig donated through “Wig It Forward” represents more than a new hairstyle. It embodies a renewed sense of self-confidence for an oncology patient. With integrative care at the core of the Harbin Clinic Cancer Center’s mission, it is no surprise Sublett saw her patient’s needs and worked to meet them. They are a medical team deeply committed to helping patients comb through challenges with renewed hope and strength.
