Decorating. Cooking. Spending time with family and friends.
The holiday season is full of festivities. But this time of year can also be a bit hectic. Last-minute gift shopping, cleaning the house to get ready for guests, trying to prepare the perfect menu and more can add a lot of extra stress to our already busy lives.
Harbin Clinic cares completely about you and wants everyone to have a great holiday season. Here are a few tips to help handle the holiday stress.
Keep expectations realistic
Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to have the perfect holiday, that we cause a lot of extra anguish. Make sure your expectations are realistic and important. If not then let go of them and set aside time for a few things that matter most to you.
Call a time out
With all the holiday hustle and bustle don’t forget to take some time for yourself. Make sure you set a small goal each day to do something for yourself. Read a chapter of your favorite book, treat yourself to a nice meal, get a massage, meditate or do something else that puts you first and foremost.
Make fun a priority
When you’re making your to-do list, try to find something fun to put at the top and do it first. That way you’ll be able to check off the other items with a more positive attitude.
Be part of the party
It’s important to not be isolated. Make sure to surround yourself with positive support and communicate your needs to others. You could also take time to volunteer to help out others in need during the holidays.
By following these helpful tips, you can keep stress at bay and fully enjoy all the holiday season has to offer. And if you need a bit more help, take time to talk to a therapist or psychologist. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Harbin Clinic Psychology at 762.235.3640.
