Surgical Procedures

Harbin Clinic Women’s Center Rome offers excellent care from a skilled team of specialists experienced in treating gynecologic conditions. Surgical options range from minimally invasive procedures to more complex open surgery. Our expert gynecologic surgeons perform these procedures at Floyd Medical Center and Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome.

The most common surgical procedures performed include:

This includes: Total Vaginal Hysterectomy, Total Abdominal Hysterectomy , Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy, and Total laproscopic hysterectomy

This includes exploratory and advanced.

During Diagnostic Laparoscopy, a laparoscope (camera) designed for medical use is connected to a high intensity light and a high-resolution television camera so that the surgeon can see what is happening inside of you. The laparoscope is put into the abdominal cavity through a hollow tube and the image of the inside of your abdomen is seen on the television screen. This procedure is done on an outpatient basis and recovery time is typically 2-3 days. In most cases, this procedure will be able to diagnose or help discover where abdominal pain is coming from.

Anterior & Posterior Repair

This procedure is to fix vaginal prolapse.

Sacrospinous Ligament Fixation

This procedure is to restore support to the uterus or vaginal vault (in a woman who has had a hysterectomy).

Tubal Ligation

This surgical procedure is for female sterilization that involves severing and tying the fallopian tubes to ensure no future pregnancies.

Open and Laproscopic Myomectomy

This procedure removes uterine fibroids, common noncancerous growths that appear in the uterus, usually during childbearing years.

A diagnostic and surgical procedure that makes examining the inside of the uterus possible without making an abdominal cut.

D&C (Dilatation & Curettage)

A procedure often performed after a first trimester miscarriage, if needed.

Incontinence Procedures

A procedure for stress incontinence, or leaky bladders, such as:

  • Tension-free vaginal tape is a synthetic mesh tape that prevents urine leakage during sudden movement and while exercising. For more information on Gynecare TVT™ click here.
  • Transvaginal Sling, or T-Sling, offers superior performance with minimal complications for stress urinary incontinence. For more information about T-Sling click here.
Global Endometrial Ablation (GEA)

This procedure is a minimally invasive treatment developed to reduce excessive menstrual bleeding (in pre-menopausal women who are having heavy periods due to benign (non-cancerous) causes).
