Flu season is upon us, and it’s Harbin Clinic’s initiative to keep the Northwest Georgia community as healthy as possible. To help arm patients against the flu virus, Harbin Clinic recommends everyone get a flu shot to protect themselves throughout flu season.
Getting the flu vaccine has multiple benefits because it won’t only protect you, but also your family and the entire community. According to The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, people should get a flu shot before the flu is here to stay from October through March.
The flu virus evolves and affects people differently every year. About two weeks after the vaccination, the immune system learns how to recognize the virus and attack it with antibodies before the virus spreads and causes sickness. Since Georgia is one of many states that endures high levels of the flu, everyone at the age of 6 months and older should get a flu shot every season.
Harbin Clinic Wants You to be a Kung Flu Fighter!
Here are some Black-Belt Tips that Kung Flu Fighters can use to fight the flu:
- Get a flu shot to protect yourself from this year’s flu virus strains. It’s your best defense against the flu.
- Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap
- Cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze
- If you feel sick, wear a facemask to help prevent germs from spreading
- When sick, stay home to avoid exposing others
