For the eighth year, Rome-area teachers, attorneys, journalists, physicians, civic leaders, coaches, business owners and more will battle for spelling supremacy and a really cool championship belt in the Harbor House Adult Spell Off presented by Harbin Clinic.
The event takes place on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Historic DeSoto Theatre on Broad Street.
“This is such a great event that we really look forward to each and every year,” Gail Garland, Executive Director of Harbor House, says. “It’s fun for all the participants and spectators and helps raise money for our work with young victims of abuse. We are so grateful to Harbin Clinic for partnering with us again this year!”
Other event sponsors include The Rome News Tribune, Hometown Headlines, WLAQ AM 1410/95.7 FM The Ridge and Kelly Moore Photography.
To date 13 teams have signed up and there are only seven more spots available, so interested teams need to contact Harbor House right away. Team sponsorship is $500, and teams are made up of three adults.
There will be a Patron Party held before the Spell Off for patrons, sponsors and spellers.
Tickets to the Spell Off cost $10 for adults while students under 18 are free. This event provides tons of fun for the spellers and audience alike. Tickets to this well-attended event are sure to go fast, so purchase them soon. We are expecting a packed house at the DeSoto again this year. Tickets go on sale starting Monday, Feb. 1.
“We are happy to be partnering with Harbor House again this year to raise money for a great cause and to see all these great adult spellers face off in a fun competition,” Harbin Clinic CEO Kenna Stock says.
The event is held annually in memory of former Harbor House Board President Shane Richardson and raises funds to provide services to families in Rome and Floyd County.
