Harbin Clinic's certified pediatric nurse practitioner and lactation specialist Kathryn K. Gnann is now offering breastfeeding consultations in Cartersville. Recently certified by the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice, Kathy is specially trained to help provide much-needed education and support for new or soon-to-be moms throughout the breastfeeding process and help them feel comfortable with this natural, healthy, and cost-effective method of feeding newborns.
“While breastfeeding may be natural, it’s not always easy and can take time for both mom and baby to adjust to,” said Dr. Tammy Williams, Harbin Clinic pediatrician. “Harbin Clinic is proud to offer lactation services and support at every stage of the process, from pre-birth consultations to postpartum support and beyond. Kathy is highly skilled at helping moms overcome breastfeeding challenges by teaching them effective strategies to ensure a positive and rewarding experience.”
Kathy brings more than 20 years as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner to her newest role as a certified lactation counselor, having recently received the esteemed 2014 Best of Cartersville Award for Nurse Practitioners. Her strong clinical background and personal experience as a mother of two children further enhances her ability to identify with moms and help make the breastfeeding experience as seamless as possible.
Kathy is available to help coach moms on a variety of breastfeeding concerns, including:
- Inability of infant to latch or latch properly
- Sore nipples or breasts
- Low milk supply
- Infant weight loss
- Milk has not come in three to five days after delivery
