Kidney disease affects one out of every seven Americans, meaning more than 31 million people suffer from it in the United States. March is National Kidney Month and Harbin Clinic Nephrology wants to give those battling kidney disease some ammunition in their fight.
Harbin Clinic Nephrology will be offering Harbin Clinic Kidney Diet Grocery Store Tours to help aid dialysis and nephrology patients when it comes to picking out the right food for their conditions.
Kidney disease requires a special diet to keep you healthy. Shopping for food when you have kidney disease can sometimes be daunting. Food labels remain surprisingly difficult to read and most grocery stores offer such a wide variety of foods that it’s often hard to determine what is and isn’t healthy for you.
Harbin Clinic Renal Dietitians will spend an hour going through the store, section by section and helping kidney patients make better food choices and showing them some choices that could be harmful to their health.
The tours take place in several surrounding grocery stores during March.
The locations and times currently scheduled are:
- March 1 – Cartersville Ingles at 10 a.m.
- March 1 and 2 – Menlo Lucky’s at 2 p.m.
- March 8 – Rome Publix at 9 a.m.
- March 14 – Calhoun Kroger at 2 p.m.
- March 29 and 30 – Cedartown Kroger at 2 p.m.
Those wishing to attend any of the sessions need to register by calling Sonja Price at 706-230-4340.
