On July Fourth, Ridge Ferry Park will again host the Harbin Clinic Color Me Free 5k Run/Walk along with the July Fourth Patriotic Party in the Park, complete with food, cool family games and activities, live music, and patriotic fireworks all benefitting Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Programs.
The race consists of runners and walkers traversing through 5 color stations along the 5k course. At each station, race participants are greeted with a barrage of color including red, yellow, blue, green, and orange. After participates reach the finish line, their will be color parties every 15 minutes, allowing runners and walkers to launch their color packets into the air. Additional packets will be available to purchase from Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority. Participates in the race will be able to enjoy other free park festivities including fun games, live music, and a fireworks show.
“This is a great event for participants to have fun with their family and friends,” said Jill Packer, Creative Services Manager at Harbin Clinic. “There’s no competitive pressure; just get showered with color and enjoywalking or running at your own pace.”
Pre-registration for the race is $30, race day registration is $35 and will open at 5:30 p.m. Each race participant receives a race t-shirt, white Harbin Clinic hat, race packet, and color packet. The first 400 registers will also receive a free pair of Color Me Free sunglasses. For those who have already registered, packet pick up will be held on Thursday, July 2nd from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The race will begin at 7 p.m. at Ridge Ferry Park and the night will wrap up at 9:45 p.m. with a fireworks show presented by Harbin Clinic.
