Ever since Wylie Reeder Harbin founded his first medical practice in Calhoun nearly 150 years ago, complete health has been at the heart of Harbin Clinic’s mission.
As the clinic grew over the years, Harbin physicians became experts in medical matters of the heart. Harbin Clinic established the first comprehensive cardiovascular program in Northwest Georgia in the 1980’s and expanded services throughout the region.
Today, the doctors at Cardiology Calhoun care for patients in the clinic Monday through Friday, providing state-of-the-art medicine and treatment plans tailored for each patient’s needs.
The Calhoun cardiologists are Dr. Charles B Baggett, Dr. Rahul Garg, Dr. Charles Jackson, Dr. Christopher Merritt, Dr. G Hunter Myers, Dr. Himanshu Patel, Dr. Hector R Picon, Dr. Kipp Slicker and Dr. Michael Ware. They each work closely with Harbin’s cardiovascular surgeons, should surgery be the best treatment option for patients.
Calhoun cardiologists care for patients dealing with issues such as angina, artery problems, valvular heart disease and heart failure as well as employ a broad range of treatment options including lifestyle modification recommendations, medications and procedures.
Heart care close to home
Home is where the heart is, and for the folks in Calhoun and Gordon County, comprehensive heart care is closer to home than ever.
“We’ve always offered diagnostic tests and procedures to our patients dealing with heart issues, but now we’re able to make it a bit easier for them to get the care they need without having to travel very far,” said Dr. Hunter Myers of the Harbin Clinic Cardiology Calhoun team.
Katherine Cameron lives in Chatsworth and was very glad for the opportunity to have her procedure done in Calhoun instead of having to drive to Rome. When her primary care doctor decided it was time, she referred Cameron to Harbin’s cardiologists in Calhoun.
“She sent me to Dr. Kipp Slicker at Cardiology Calhoun to address my heart concerns, and he was great,” Cameron said. “I would definitely recommend their office. The care was wonderful and the access to an area hospital was very convenient and you couldn’t ask for a better staff.”
Dr. Slicker recommended a heart catheterization procedure and let her know they could schedule it at AdventHealth Gordon, which was much closer to home for her.
“Dealing with healthcare issues can be a little stressful, and it is great that we can now offer our Calhoun patients the same level of excellent care that we always have in a more convenient setting,” said Dr. Slicker.
Harbin Clinic cares completely for all of Northwest Georgia, and the folks of Gordon County are experiencing that care at the very heart of their community.
February is National Heart Health Month, so it is the perfect time to schedule your appointment with the Cardiology Calhoun care providers to get your ticker in tip top shape.
