Harbin Clinic Pediatrician Dr. Todd Kelley loves caring completely for his patients. When he’s not at the office, he enjoys hitting the local trails running or biking to help stay active.
On Saturday, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. Dr. Kelley gets a chance to combine his love of caring for patients and his love of being active, as he leads the October edition of Harbin Clinic’s Walk With a Doc.
The event begins at Bridgepoint Plaza and follows the Kingfisher Trail. The walk is approximately two miles, but walkers have the option of adding more miles or turning around early. People of all fitness level are welcome and encouraged to participate.
The free series began in April and since then more than 250 community members have joined Harbin Clinic physicians on the monthly jaunts.
Dr. Kelley not only advises his patients to exercise, the long-time pediatrician and father also competes in road races and triathlons around the country.
“Getting regular exercise is important for people at any age. I want all of my patients to be healthy and active,” Dr. Kelley says. “I believe this event is great, because walking is a great form of exercise that anyone can do.”
Statistics show that active people typically live longer and have a lower risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, depression and some forms of cancer.
October weather can be unpredictable. Be sure to check the weather forecast before the walk to see if you might need to add an extra layer or bring rain gear. Please also check Harbin Clinic’s web site, Facebook and Twitter pages for event updates due to inclement weather.
