Get ready to lace up your walking shoes and log some steps while exploring a great trail in Downtown Rome for Harbin Clinic’s Walk With a Doc.
The free, monthly community event has drawn hundreds of people who gather at 9 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month to hear information and facts about health and wellness from Harbin Clinic physicians. Then the group stretches their legs during a 2-mile health walk along the Kingfisher Trail in Downtown Rome.
Dr. Mary Margaret Beauchamp, an Ear Nose & Throat physician who has been a champion of Harbin’s Walk with a Doc series says that just half an hour of walking has many health benefits, such as a reduction in heart disease risk and a decrease in depression and anxiety.
“It’s amazing what a few minutes outside can do for your health, and this event allows you to join with a group of people who are striving toward the same goal, all in the same place,” she says. “We build fellowship, share health tips and have a great time together embracing the benefits of healthy activity.”
Participants should tune into the weather forecast so they can dress appropriately for the temperature and wear comfortable, durable shoes. In the case of inclement weather, visit Harbin Clinic’s website, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for updates.
