Within Summit, Dr. McBride has been responsible for clinical oversight of care coordination, health education, patient experience, quality reporting and improvement, and direct supervision of six regional medical directors.  Statewide, Dr. McBride has also been committed to leading health improvement, serving on the Board of Directors for the East Tennessee Health Information Network, and as a delegate to the Tennessee Medical Association.  Nationally, Dr. McBride serves as a member of the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

Dr. McBride attended Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee, and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.  He completed internship and residency at Carilion Health Systems in Roanoke, Virginia, and earned an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  Prior to joining Summit, Dr. McBride was with Holston Medical Group in Kingsport, Tennessee, and Floyd Primary Care in Rome, Georgia.

“Dr. McBride is the right person to lead Harbin Clinic’s physicians as we move into the future,” said Dr. Ken Davis, CEO of Harbin Clinic.  “I hardly need to say that the practice of medicine is undergoing a seachange in America, and his clinical experience, combined with his strategic business sense, make Dr. McBride an ideal partner for our new CEO, Kenna Stock.”

Dr. Davis recently revealed that he will retire in September of this year and Ms. Stock will assume the top position at Harbin.  “Dr. Al Diaz has been a truly wonderful, caring CMO, but we understand his desire to retire from Harbin and start another phase in his life.  Dr. Diaz and I have been planning his transition for several years, and we look forward to a smooth handoff of responsibility from him to Dr. McBride.”
