The region’s first Veinwave ™ machine for the treatment and elimination of spider veins has been acquired by the Harbin Clinic Vein Center. The new machine allows Harbin Clinic physicians to provide significantly improved treatment for this common medical problem.
Harbin Clinic Vascular Surgeons at the Vein Center introduce a new revolutionary procedure, Veinwave ™ for the many men and women who suffer from spider veins and telangiectasia - those unsightly clusters of red, blue or purple veins that spider-web across the cheeks, thighs, calves, ankles and knees. The Veinwave ™ can safely be used on the face, neck, trunk, legs, knees and ankles as appropriate. Although the Veinwave ™ has been available for more than 8 years in Europe, the FDA only recently cleared the Veinwave ™ device in the United States for eliminating spider veins of the lower extremities and telangiectasia.
Until now, lasers and IPL devices have tried to treat these veins, but with limited success. Also, the traditional treatment was painful and required patients to remain out of the sun for an extended post-treatment period.
Unlike traditional laser treatment, the Veinwave ™ involves only slight discomfort. Also, the Veinwave ™ doesn’t carry a risk of long-term scarring and the procedure is over in approximately 15 minutes.
Veinwave ™’s ultra-fine, insulated probe permits a highly targeted treatment that doesn’t irritate the surrounding skin. Within minutes after the session, patients can resume their everyday activities without bandages or compression socks, as if it never happened. Patients can also resume outdoor activities in the sun, such as tennis, swimming, etc., after only applying sunscreen to the treated areas.
Many people have problems with larger veins and spider veins. The Harbin Clinic Vein Center continues to offer Sclerotherapy for large veins, phlebectomy and the Closure procedure as appropriate. The addition of the Veinwave service provides a superior alternative for the treatment of spider veins of the knee, ankle and (rarely) on the face. As a combination therapy, Veinwave ™ is the perfect compliment to Sclerotherapy.
