Medical school students around the world will benefit from the experience and knowledge of Harbin Clinic Neurosurgeon John Cowan Jr. Dr. Cowan is an author of Fundamentals of Operative Techniques in Neurosurgery, 2nd Edition, a neurosurgery text book scheduled to be used my medical schools worldwide.
Dr. Cowan wrote a section of the book titled Superficial Temporal Artery- Middle Cerebral Artery Bypass. The section draws on his academic training, surgical experience, and clinical research. Published by Thieme Medical Publishers, the book provides detailed coverage of every routine neurosurgery procedure seen in daily practice.
Dr. Cowan is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He was elected to the AANS Young Neurosurgeons Committee in 2009.
The Cartersville native received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. Dr. Cowan completed his Neurosurgery residency and General Surgery internship at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He completed his Medical Doctorate degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. In 2008, he joined Harbin Clinic.
