Bariatric Surgeons Gain National Recognition

Harbin Clinic Bariatric surgeons have put Rome, Ga. on the map along with Floyd Medical Center which was recently named one of America's Best Hospitals for bariatric surgery by the 2019 Women’s Choice Awards.

The nationwide awards help women make smart health choices, and the bariatric award puts FMC in the top 8 percent of nearly 5,000 U.S. hospitals that were reviewed.

“This recognition is based on the fact every Harbin Clinic and Floyd staff member who interacts with our patients gives exemplary customer service,” says Dr. Ryland Scott. “This makes Rome stand out as a destination for not only top notch medical care, but for patient care on every level.”

The program received the distinction by making sure the surgeons maintained top accreditations. Also, at least 72 percent of patients reported in a national survey that they recommend the hospital for bariatric surgery and the program maintains a high patient safety ranking.

“Bariatric surgery is designed to treat morbid obesity and its associated diseases like diabetes, hypertension and other chronic, life-threatening illnesses,” says Dr. Peter Adams. “Yes, patients lose weight, but it really does add years to their life and life to their years.”
